The Town of Davidson is soliciting proposals from engineering firms for special inspections and material testing services for the construction of Fire Station no. 2 on Davidson-Concord Road. The proposed station will be approximately 5000 enclosed square feet, including truck bays and residential areas, plus approximately 500 square feet of roofed exterior porch. Construction bids are due from contractors on August 18, 2016. Construction is slated to begin in mid-October, 2016. Special inspections of soils and materials inspections will consist of testing of earthwork, cast-in-place concrete, and steel. See the Schedule of Special Inspections for information on required inspections. The project requires removal of unsuitable fill and replacement with structural fill prior to construction. Heavy-duty concrete driveways and bay floors for fire trucks will be required.
